CAV needs volunteers to help with our Thrift Store, information booths, fundraising events, our front desk reception and landscaping. If you would like to volunteer your time, please contact: Camille Rael, Volunteer Coordinator at 575-758-8082. You may also email her at CamilleR@TaosCAV.org
We do ask all volunteers to complete an application, sign a confidentiality agreement and accept a background check. We do this to ensure the safety of our clients and staff. Thank you!
We need volunteers to help sort through donations, stock, clean and organize the store. The CAV Thrift Store is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. A “handyperson” is also needed to assist with general maintenance of the facility and with pick-ups/delivery. The Thrift Store is also currently the only opportunity for individuals to complete court-ordered community service through CAV.
Volunteers help in the front office by serving as a front desk receptionist. Volunteers will answer the main phone and greet people as they come to the office. Most needed are 1-hour shifts around the lunch hour. Informal training is provided.
Prevention, Outreach & Community Education
Volunteers are present on an as needed basis to staff tables at various events throughout the year, including health fairs, arts and crafts fairs and fundraising booths at local businesses. Volunteers hand out print materials and answer questions regarding CAV, domestic violence, sexual assault and other related topics.
Spanish speaking translators are needed (especially those familiar with the local Spanish-speaking community) to translate at events and to assist with presentations. Written translation is also needed for pamphlets, forms, etc.
Volunteers make calls and visits to donors, ask for donations of money, food and other items needed for events. Volunteers also help plan, organize and staff fundraising events. CAV needs help particularly for our October Radiothon and Annual Campaign in the Fall. Training and support are provided.
Volunteers are needed anytime to assist with clearing weeds and trash from the main property and around the Thrift Store and to help on occasion with various maintenance projects at both locations. Please call ahead and let us know what time you are planning to arrive and whether you will bring or need tools to accomplish your goals.
We are open to hearing and developing any volunteer ideas you may have or want to contribute as well and value your time with us. For more information, to sign up to volunteer, submit ideas etc. contact Camille Rael via email at CamilleR@TaosCAV.org. Thank you!
